Cortinarius rotundisporus – ‘Elegant Blue Webcap’

A beautiful species that may be found in southern parts of Australia and is known to form relationships with tea trees. I’ve included the tea tree species Leptospermum erubescens in the painting, more commonly known as roadside tea tree. I also added some native Australian paper daisies (Rhodanthe chlorocephala) as I was looking to create a piece that felt colourful and bright but also simple and elegant (to match the Elegant Blue Webcap’s name!).

The cap is convex to start with, then flattens and expands as the fungi grows. It also becomes paler with age.
